What is Sedation Dentistry?

This term has received a lot of buzz in the past few years and for good reason!

A significant number of people do not visit the dentist regularly due to fear or anxiety, often waiting until it’s an emergency before seeking out care.

Sedation dentistry allows easier access to care and treatment can be sought before a problem becomes an emergency.

Sedation dentistry does not induce sleep; instead, senses are dulled and anxiety levels are decreased.

You are awake during the procedure but are more calm and relaxed.

Oral Sedatives, typically in the class of benzodiazepines, are taken intraorally (by mouth) and are administered in our office an hour before your appointment.

We ask a trusted caregiver to accompany you to and from your appointment since you will not be able to drive.

We’re happy to the discuss your options with you.
